Raphinha shows off Leeds United merchandise he still has on Instagram

Raphinha may have left Leeds United over the summer but Elland Road is still on his mind if his Instagram is anything to go by.

The Brazilian now plays and resides in Barcelona after a mega-money move to Spain before the 2022-23 Premier League season began and he appears to be loving life in the sun.

As does his partner and dog who he took a picture with on 11 September on his Instagram page but there was something very poignant evident in the photo.

Raphinha’s dog was wearing a collar and lead plastered with the Leeds United club badge and other Whites-related phrases and words which sent fans wild.

His agent, Deco, responded underneath the post as did many a Leeds fan who all remember what he did for the club before his move to the Camp Nou.

Forever a favourite

The way he ended up leaving the club is not how he or anyone would have wanted but even the most diehard of Leeds United fans would have to admit that he deserved and needed to move on for the good of his career.

His ability was so far beyond that of anyone else at the club last season that without him, Jesse Marsch could well be managing a campaign in the Championship right now rather than the Premier League.

Having spent two seasons at Thorp Arch, he has clearly been injected by the Leeds love and that will remain within him for the rest of his life even if he isn’t turning out for the Whites on the field.

Until Leeds can genuinely call themselves title challengers in the Premier League, they have to expect their best players to be the targets for bigger, more successful clubs when the transfer window rolls around.

Under Marsch, they could go some way to becoming that but it isn’t going to happen overnight and more heartbreaking exits like this will come.

In other Leeds United news, this 15-year-old starlet caught the eye on international duty as footage emerged of a stunning 30-yard screamer on Twitter.
