Raphinha has two release clauses in current Leeds United contract – report

Leeds United star Raphinha currently has two release clauses in his contract at Elland Road, according to Gianluigi Longari.

The reliable journalist, reporting for Football Transfers has insisted that the Brazilian cannot leave Leeds for less than £62.5million at this moment.

It is reported that Chelsea are interested, and Raphinha is open to the move after talks were held between the two camps.

The second release clause only comes into play if Leeds are relegated to the Championship from the Premier League.

It would then see Raphinha’s price plummet down to £20.8million, something that would be gutting for everyone at the club.

Barcelona are also said to be interested in the winger, but it is Chelsea who lead them in the race for the upcoming summer.

The Spanish club needs to qualify for the Champions League in order to raise the funds needed for Raphinha, though, a problem that other clubs don’t have.

Business.

This is one of those things that should be expected.

Raphinha has been shining for Leeds ever since he arrived, and you can’t keep hold of those types of players forever, especially since he burst onto the scene with Brazil.

Money talks and it is all about Leeds reinvesting that to strengthen their squad when the day comes where the winger leaves.

Should the Whites stay up and Raphinha left for over £60million, it would be triple what we paid, and that is brilliant business.

We got our first taste of life without him in the first 45 minutes against Manchester United and it wasn’t pretty, so it would need to be reinvested.

Let’s just enjoy Raphinha for now, with the thought of him playing elsewhere awful, to say the least.
