Ralph Hasenhuttl issues fitness update ahead Leeds United v Southampton
Leeds United will face Southampton in the Premier League on Saturday at Elland after the international break.
Ahead of the match, Southampton boss, Ralph Hasenhuttl, has insisted that he has “no messages” about the fitness conditions of the eight players who participated for the countries recently.
However, the Saints boss has provided an update on the players who could feature against the Whites. Southampton midfielder Oriol Romeu is “little doubt” about the game, and could miss the clash.
The likes of James Ward Prowse, Kyler Walker-Peters, Fraser Forster, Tino Livramento, Che Adams, Stuart Armstrong, Mohamed Elyounossi, Armando Broja and Moussa Djenepo have all been away with their respective countries in the past couple of weeks.
“I think Alex McCarthy is back in light training with the goalkeepers, Will Smallbone had Covid but is back in training, Oriol was a little doubt with some stomach problems, but he is back in,” said Hasenhuttl, as quoted by Leeds Live.
“Nathan Tella is also back training with the team. So far, I have no messages about injuries from the internationals, I will see them this afternoon.”

Momentum
The Whites won back-to-back games against Norwich City and Wolves prior to the international break.
The disruption has come at a bad time for the club as they were just looking to gain some momentum. Jesse Marsch and his boys will have to pick themselves up from where they were left.
Leeds are 16th in the table with seven points above the drop zone. However, they have played 30 games, and they have only eight remaining.
In comparison, Everton, who sit just below them, have played three games less and are only four points behind.
The home games are absolutely crucial for the Whites and they must aim to pick up maximum points from these games.
While Marsch will definitely keep an eye on the Southampton squad, he should be focussing more on his own team. Patrick Bamford is once again likely to miss out for a few games with injury but the likes of Kalvin Phillips and Liam Cooper can return.
