Rafa Benitez stance on Leeds United job emerges
Rafa Benitez has reportedly expressed an interest in taking over the Leeds United job as the club want a new manager in sooner rather than later.
According to talkSPORT, the Spaniard who has 173 Premier League wins in his career, wants to succeed Jesse Marsch at Elland Road.
Phil Hay claimed on 20 January that the Whites want a new manager before the game against Southampton over the weekend.
TalkSPORT wrote on Twitter, “Rafael Benitez has expressed an interest in the Leeds job.”
Can do better
Javi Gracia is in talks to be the Whites boss and he would be a much better fit than Benitez whose last Premier League job did not end particularly well.
His style of football is also not something that the Leeds fans would accept and all in all, it’ll be a bad appointment.
There have been talks about Lucien Favre as well and that’s a move that could have the backing of the fans and may even get the players pumped up.
It remains to be seen which direction the board goes but they need to act quickly as the Southampton clash is on the 25th.

If they want a new manager in by then, he would ideally need two training sessions with the players which means that an appointment must be made by late Wednesday or early Thursday morning.
This is going to be crucial as the new manager will be the difference maker between staying up and getting relegated.
