Pundit wowed by 'immense' Tyler Adams, Leeds United ace one of the best at World Cup for USA
Leeds United midfielder Tyler Adams captained USA to a 1-0 win over Iran on Tuesday night as his nation booked their place in the last 16 of the World Cup.
USA headed into their final group game against Iran knowing nothing but a win would allow them to progress to the knockout stages.
Christian Pulisic scored the only goal of the game in the first half to climb USA up to second in Group B. Adams again played the full 90 minutes and put on another superb showing.
His performance drew praise from pundit Danny Higginbotham, who took to Twitter to credit the 23-year-old.
“Tyler Adams immense once again. One of the stand-out performers in the World Cup so far,” wrote Higginbotham.

Adams has been an immediate hit with the Leeds faithful ever since his move to Elland Road in the summer. He made it much easier for supporters to get over the loss of Kalvin Phillips to Manchester City.
His work ethic, positioning and composure in midfield is incredible for such a young player, and his leadership values are being noticed at both club and country.
He was handed the USA armband ahead of the World Cup and he’s captained his nation to the knockout stages, and he’s also thrown his name into the hat to become the future captain of Leeds once Liam Cooper departs.
To brand him one of the standout players of the tournament isn’t even hyperbole from Higginbotham, Adams has genuinely drawn attention from all around the globe for his performances in red white and blue.
Hopefully that attention doesn’t translate into offers arriving on Jesse Marsch’s desk in January, but the Leeds manager will certainly be excited to have Adams back at Elland Road and full of confidence ahead of the second half of the season.
