Pundit makes Leeds United prediction ahead of Manchester City and Newcastle games

Tony Dorigo predicts that Leeds United will have to spend a lot of time without the ball against Manchester City and Newcastle.

The Whites will be taking on AS Monaco on 21 December and Dorigo believes that it will be ideal preparation for these two Premier League games.

The Monaco clash will be the final friendly before the season restarts for the Whites and they will be looking to put in a good performance and avoid any injuries.

Dorigo told the Yorkshire Evening Post, “We now face our friendly at home to AS Monaco tonight and I think that they will be very similar to Sociedad.

“We know that technically they have got some very good players and they will try and play and keep the ball. But I think that’s good for us and a good style to play against because of what will likely happen against Man City and then Newcastle away.

“It’s hard to see us having a load of possession in those games so we will have to pick and choose our moments well in terms of when we press when we don’t.”

Ideal preparation

Jesse Marsch can use this friendly against Monaco as a free hit and try out different systems before the season resumes.

Nobody is going to fault him for the result of this and he’ll surely want to see a good performance from his side.

We’re expecting a few surprises and some to play out of position as it’ll be a good test of their versatility and ability to react to different situations in pressure moments.

Slowly, all the players are coming back to full fitness and while it won’t be a complete pool of players to choose from against Manchester City, Marsch will still have a few selection calls to make.

Rodrigo has been looking sharp and if he stays fit for a while we can expect him to grab a few more goals in the coming weeks.

He has started the season strongly and Leeds would probably have been better off had he stayed fit, but he has a chance to go on a good run from now until May.
