Polish media wax lyrical of Mateusz Klich at EUROs
Leeds United midfielder Mateusz Klich was subject to praise from his country’s media after an impressive bow for Poland in a European Championship game on Monday.
The Polish media had very few good things to write about their national side after they suffered a shock 2-1 defeat against Slovakia.
Star forward Robert Lewandowski was one of the biggest flops on the day, but Klich managed to shine despite his teammates not being able to get themselves out of second gear.

Media outlet Przeglad Sportowy gave Klich a 6/10 rating for the game – the highest of any other Poland player.
They wrote, “When he puts on his glasses off the pitch, he resembles the book wizard Harry Potter.
“He has managed to show some magic on at least two occasions on the St. Petersburg grassland.
“The first time he found Maciej Rybus great and it became 1-1. For the second – Karol Linetta was close to 2-1. Seems he knew what to do on the pitch.”
Weaving his spells to perfection
In what was otherwise a drab game to watch, one thing that kept us going was watching Klich enjoying expressing himself against the Slovakian side.
He started on the right side of a midfield three and often found himself drifting wide and combining with wing-back Kamil Jozwiak.

Klich often played like an old-fashioned winger giving Jozwiak the license to hug the touchline and get himself forward and create chances for Lewandowski and co.
In possession, Klich kept it tidy. He touched the ball on 66 occasions and had a pass completion of almost 80 percent [Sofascore].
He was second best to most of his duels, but apart from that, he had every reason to be happy about his performance.
We’re hoping to see more of the same from Klich in the next two games and the knockout rounds as well, should they progress.
