Phil Hay: Stuart Dallas still in London with Rob Price, difficult to predict length of Leeds United absence

Leeds United star Stuart Dallas is still in London after suffering a fractured femur against Manchester City over the weekend.

Phil Hay has shared that the Whites’ Head of Medicine Rob Price is with the utility man, ahead of major surgery on the blow.

The Athletic journalist admitted Dallas is protected by his contract until 2024, but it is hard to predict when he could feature again.

Writing in his latest piece for The Athletic, Hay shared what is currently happening with the defender.

“Dallas has the protection of a contract running to 2024, a deal signed last summer, but it will be difficult so soon after Saturday for Leeds to predict exactly when he will play again.

“Marsch is likely to provide more details at his press conference before this weekend’s game against Arsenal, once Dallas’ surgery is complete and the picture is clearer.

“Dallas is still in London and was accompanied there by Rob Price, Leeds’ head of medicine and performance.”

Leeds United

Sad.

It is hard to not feel completely gutted for Dallas.

The Northern Ireland international has written himself into folklore at Elland Road, and this will not change that he will be a legend forever.

You always get commitment, desire and effort from Dallas, and he leaves everything out on the pitch, something that is critical in a relegation battle.

Even if he is not playing, he will be with this squad, who have clearly been hit hard by the news and have been given that extra level of motivation.

It certainly won’t be the start of next season, and it will likely be the start of 2023 when we see Dallas again.

Hopefully, that will still be in the Premier League given how precarious our current situation is looking.

We now need to do this for Dallas, the reception he will get from fans in these final four games without even being there is huge.

We will see him in a Leeds shirt again.
