Phil Hay shares why Junior Firpo will not travel with Leeds United to Australia
Leeds United have not included left-back Junior Firpo in the squad to Australia because he reportedly picked up a knock.
According to the Athletic’s Phil Hay, Leeds did not want to risk the Spaniard and after he sustained a knock, they decided not to take him down under.
Leif Davis is the only recognised left-back in the pre-season squad and even his future appears to be in doubt, as things stand.

Problem position
Left-back was a problem position for the Whites last summer as well but they decided to act and bring in Junior Firpo.
Stuart Dallas shared that role with Gjanni Alioski in Leeds’ first season back up, but the departure of the latter meant that the Whites had to dip into the transfer market.
It’s fair to say that Firpo’s first year in England has been massively underwhelming and the club need to sign another left-back.
Whether that new signing would be an upgrade or not, it’s important to get some more bodies through the door.
Davis appears to be heading for the exit door already and with the cash Leeds will receive from Raphinha’s sale, they should look to spend that money on someone who could challenge Firpo for a first-team berth.
Hopefully, his injury is not too serious and he should be ready to go once the team is back from their tour to Australia.
This adds to their pre-season concerns along with Raphinha’s transfer saga and Kalvin Phillips’ exit.
In other Leeds United, a Whites defender heavily admired by Marcelo Bielsa could permanently seal his permanent exit this summer with there being genuine interest in his services.
