Ipswich Town want to sign Leeds United defender Leif Davis

Ipswich Town are reportedly showing a strong interest in securing the services of Leeds United defender Leif Davis.

According to East Anglian Daily Times, the defender was admired by Marcelo Bielsa at Elland and the League One side feel that he could strengthen their left side.

Dorset Live reported in May 2022 that it’s anticipated Davis will move on this summer with a permanent exit also being on the cards.

Keep him

Leeds do not have any plans of signing another left-back this summer so it does not make sense to sell Davis.

Junior Firpo struggled in his first season in England while Stuart Dallas, despite being a more than capable left-back, is a midfielder by trade and is facing injury issues.

He’s unlikely to be available at the start of the season and it’s important to have two specialist players in every position.

Under Bielsa, the lack of depth led to the club’s downfall time and again which saw many players play in roles they’re not accustomed to.

This worked for one season but in the second term, it became extremely difficult to sustain and the Argentine certainly must take some responsibility for that.

Hopefully, the Whites inform Ipswich that the player is not for sale or if they want to cash in on him, they must line up a replacement sooner rather than later or they’ll end up paying the price once again.

In other Leeds United news, the club have now opened talks with an ‘Incredible’ title-winning central midfielder to replace Kalvin Phillips and sign him along with Tyler Adams.
