Phil Hay says Leeds could be set for big announcement within hours

It’s time for some good news.

Man City winger Ian Poveda has passed his medical with Leeds and he could be officially announced as early as Thursday evening.

That’s the verdict from Athletic journalist Phil Hay who dropped the news on his personal Twitter account.

One Leeds fan asked him when Poveda would be announced and Hay replied, “Medical is all done so this evening probably. But going ahead one way or the other.”

So that’s two out of three deals in the bag for Leeds, after keeper Elia Caprile already signed earlier this week.

All that remains is the big one as Leeds go in search of a striker who can score the goals they need for promotion.

Che Adams looks to be off the table after Ralph Hasenhuttl reiterated today that the striker is going nowhere.

He also said that Shane Long has picked up an injury, which makes a deal for Adams even less likely.

Leeds fans have been getting a bit desperate but the Poveda news should calm them down a bit.

Getting him on a free is a brilliant bit of business after Leeds banked £9m for Jack Clarke.

We think he’s an upgrade on Clarke and we’re excited to see him in a Leeds shirt.

Leeds United have also been linked with Jarrod Bowen from Hull and we’re going to say this now. If Leeds bring in Poveda, Bowen and a striker, it will be the best window in a long, long time.
