Phil Hay responds to Kalvin Phillips injury story, can play for Leeds v Brighton
Leeds United fans will have been left in fear on Tuesday as stories emerged of Kalvin Phillips picking up a head injury.
The Telegraph shared that the Whites squad were granted a night out in London after the Spurs game where the problem happened.
Fears instantly switched to the Brighton game on Saturday, but Phil Hay has responded to the news with a positive update.
Writing on his personal Twitter account, Hay shared that Phillips will be available for selection, as usual, this weekend.
“As per Mike McGrath’s story, no lasting damage to Kalvin Phillips,” he wrote.
“Scraped his head on a pre-Christmas do with the rest of the players in London. Trained as planned today, will train tomorrow, ready for Brighton.”
Thank the heavens.
If Phillips was unavailable, that would have added to the whole list of problems facing Marcelo Bielsa at Elland Road.
Thankfully, the Yorkshire Pirlo will be available and he will be available and ready to shine yet again.
Phillips proved that he was a class above the rest in the 2-1 defeat at Spurs, pocketing the likes of Harry Kane with relative ease at times.
This head injury looks to just be a scrape rather than a wound and should be gone before Saturday if as light as expected.
Given that he trained today and didn’t miss anything at Thorp Arch, there is nothing wrong and hopefully, he will be joined by the likes of Raphinha and Patrick Bamford, that would be incredible.
