Phil Hay details Leeds United question that left Marcelo Bielsa press conference tense

Phil Hay has shared that it got tense in Marcelo Bielsa’s latest press conference as his Leeds United future was brought to the table.

After the Whites were demolished 7-0 against Manchester City last time out, many started to question the future of El Loco.

Speaking on the latest episode of the Phil Hay Show, the reliable journalist insisted that he didn’t want to reveal who asked and start a “witch hunt.”

When asked if it got tense when a national newspaper journalist asked about Bielsa’s future, Hay said: “It did.

“I don’t think it’s a bad thing seeing Bielsa spiky. I always think in times like this it’s good to see him fight his corner and talking about how much he’s going to crack on and stick with it. He was pretty nonplussed though by the questions.

Hay was then asked which journalist asked the question and he replied: “No comment. I don’t want to start a witch hunt.”

Embarrassing.

Whoever started quizzing Bielsa on his future and the possibility of being sacked clearly isn’t familiar with things at Elland Road.

Bielsa is a god in West Yorkshire and Andrea Radrizzani has made it perfectly clear in recent years that he wouldn’t pull the trigger on El Loco.

With the gaffer only signing one-year rolling contracts, there isn’t a huge financial responsibility behind getting rid of Bielsa if that decision was made.

No one wants Bielsa to leave, and no manager would be able to pick up points with all of these players out injured – he needs investment in January and player to return before he is properly judged.

We can all relax knowing that it would never happen, and we have confidence that he will turn things around between now and May.
