Phil Hay: Leeds United set for quiet end to January if they don’t sign Brenden Aaronson
Phil Hay has insisted that Leeds United will have a quiet end to the January window if they fail to sign Brenden Aaronson.
RB Salzburg are playing hardball and are currently reluctant to sell despite the Whites making two big-money offers in the past week.
Hay has shared that Leeds and Victor Orta now have to decide whether to force the issue for the American international, who remains the prime target.

Writing in a transfer piece for The Athletic, Hay shared the latest state of play at Elland Road with less than a week to go.
“Leeds’ prime target is Brenden Aaronson, the United States international at Red Bull Salzburg,” he wrote.
“They have submitted two bids for him but neither has been accepted and Leeds have a week to decide whether or not to try to force the issue.
“One way or another, Leeds want Aaronson at Elland Road but they are willing to wait until the summer to sign him if Salzburg maintain their stance that the midfielder is not for sale in this window.
“Aaronson is very interested in a move to England but Salzburg are under no pressure to let him go. If the Aaronson move doesn’t materialise, a quiet end to January is likely at Leeds.”

No Plan B?
We know that Orta is very strict on the type of player that Marcelo Bielsa would like and want in his set-up, but this seems reckless.
The defeat against Newcastle surely proved that we are desperately low on options, and need one if not two new faces in the next week.
A new midfielder, as well as another option in the final third, would go a huge way towards strengthening this side and Premier League survival.
Aaronson may be the prime target, but he can be brought in the summer if RB Salzburg are being that strict – you have to learn to compromise when the situation is this bad.
Orta needs to broaden his arisen, there is no way we can go through this window without bringing in at least one senior signing.
