Phil Hay: Leeds United not interested in last-gasp loan signings in January window

Phil Hay has insisted that Leeds United are not interested in any loan deals as the January deadline closes in.

It has been reported that any potential deal for RB Salzburg star Brenden Aaronson is looking complicated with the deadline on Monday.

Hay suggested that it will be a quiet end to the window if Aaronson doesn’t arrive, with deadline-busting short term signings not on the cards.

Writing for The Athletic this morning, Hay shared if the Whites could be interested in any last-gasp temporary moves.

“Even though the club have long needed extra resources in midfield, they are not in the market for short-term loans or signings to tide them over until the end of the term,” he wrote.

Nothing.

It looks as though that’s what Leeds will be ending up with this month.

Hay shared that a deal for Aaronson is unlikely now that he has jetted off for international duty with the United States.

They have two games in the next couple of weeks, and he will be playing a starring roles in those presumably, rather than getting this deal over the line.

Leeds have injury problems, with Adam Forshaw and Kalvin Phillips currently out leaving Marcelo Bielsa with little to no options.

A short-term option sounds perfect from the outside, but it looks as though it is already off the table at Elland Road.

Now, we hope that means that Forshaw and hopefully even Phillips will be back available once the break is over and we travel to Aston Villa.
