Phil Hay reacts to Raphinha jibe at Tim Krul after Leeds win v Norwich

Leeds United star Raphinha made all the headlines on and off the pitch against Norwich City in the Premier League last week.

The Brazilian scored in the 2-1 win and then fired a dig at Tim Krul for his past comments on Instagram after the game.

Phil Hay has shared an insight into the controversy, admitting that someone has clearly has a word in the ear of Raphinha.

Speaking on the Phil Hay Show this week, the Athletic journalist joked that it was “incredibly random” to see the social media dig.

“Krul is quite an abrasive character, from what I’m told.

“There’s always a little niggle there and someone’s clearly had a word in Raphinha’s ear at some point and said, ‘listen, this is what went on so you’re aware’. That was incredibly random, that appearing on Instagram.

“Someone messaged me to say, ‘have you seen this?’. And I thought, on the one hand, that’s very, very odd but on the other, you can see what’s going on. Somebody’s obviously said to him if you get the chance to have a little dig, feel free.”

Brilliant.

Wow, everyone was bound to have a good laugh when Krul completely messed up that long-range drive from Rodrigo.

There is clearly a history there, and we all remember that defeat at Elland Road in Marcelo Bielsa’s first season at the club when the Dutchman was giving it the big ones.

Unfortunately for him, it has all gone downhill from there and it looks as though he is already preparing for relegation back down to the Championship.

Raphinha knows what it is to be Leeds, and he clearly knows that it us against the world – that’s what makes him one of our own, let’s hope it stays that way.
