Phil Hay: Leeds United announcement for Brenden Aaronson close, deal or personal terms not set to hit snags

Phil Hay has insisted that Leeds United finalising personal terms with RB Salzburg star Brenden Aaronson should not hit any “snags” this week.

The Athletic journalist has reported that an announcement is close for the American international, although no medical has yet been completed in England.

A deal is in place and Leeds are already making their moves in the transfer market after securing Premier League survival against Brentford on Sunday afternoon [22 May].

Writing in his latest piece for The Athletic, Hay shared the latest on the deal with the announcement appearing to be very imminent at Elland Road.

“Salzburg rejected two offers at the turn of the year but it was telling that, within no time of the season finishing on Sunday, one transfer agreement at Leeds was already a long way down the road,” he wrote.

“Aaronson is yet to undergo a medical in England, but Leeds are close to announcing that a deal with Salzburg is in place and finalising personal terms with the USMNT international should not hit any snags.”

No snags.

With this being Leeds United, you are never certain about anything until it is officially announced.

Aaronson was clearly the one target everyone agreed on back in January, but it was never going to happen as RB Salzburg dug their claws in and made sure they kept hold of him.

Now the season has finished, it all looks as though this will be sorted.

We can’t wait to get Aaronson through the door and finally reinforce that attacking midfield area ahead of Kalvin Phillips that has been neglected for years.

Big hope also surrounds the Yorkshire Pirlo and him signing a new deal at Elland Road and this new-look midfield would get tongues wagging ahead of the new season.

If this deal can be announced this week, Jesse Marsch will be buzzing as he finally gets to build the squad he wants after helping Leeds stay in the Premier League.

No snags, bring it on.
