Phil Hay: Leeds have made no 'firm' progress on January signings despite impending Cody Drameh exit
Phil Hay has shared that Leeds United have made no “firm” progress to bring in major January signings this month.
The Athletic shared the negative update despite Cody Drameh closing in on a loan move to Cardiff City this week.
Leeds are going through an injury crisis, and given this impending exit, hope will have been that incomings were close.
Writing on his personal Twitter account, Hay shared the latest state of play at Elland Road with only one going out as things stand.
“Cody Drameh set to join Cardiff on loan,” he wrote.
“Work on-going on incomings at Leeds but no firm progress yet.”
Given just how wild our injury hell has been this season, this appears to be ill-advised from Leeds at this moment in time.
Drameh has been a regular on the bench in the Premier League this season and has been given minutes by Marcelo Bielsa.
With Luke Ayling already missing months of action, there may have been a thought to keep Drameh at the club just in case.
That or potentially another signing was arriving to improve the squad depth at Elland Road, but it appears neither is happening.
Stuart Dallas will now go back into his role of playing in midfield, but covering at both left and right back behind Ayling and Junior Firpo.
Looks as though we will be forced to wait days, possibly even weeks for this progress to turn solid and signings to be made.
