Leeds yet to push a deal to 'advanced' stage in January transfer window - Phil Hay

Phil Hay has shared the latest on the transfer state of play at Leeds United as they enter the second week of the January transfer window.

The Athletic journalist has insisted that nothing has hit the “advanced” stage as we speak, with things quiet in terms of incomings.

Hay admitted that isn’t to say the Whites aren’t working on anything but did suggest that nothing was close at Elland Road.

Writing in his latest pre-match Q&A for The Athletic, Hay shared the latest state of play at Elland Road with more than one week down.

“Very quiet on that front,” he said.

“Which isn’t to say they’re not working on anything but we’re yet to see a deal move to an advanced stage. Extra resources have felt necessary for a while. The squad has been too susceptible to injuries this season.”

Not advanced.

Any fans hoping for new signings before we travel to West Ham yet again, look set for disappointment.

Leeds are crying out for a couple of new signings before the end of January, but we would all like them earlier in the window so they can begin the settling in process.

The midfield is as light as ever, and with Patrick Bamford picking up a fresh blow alongside Joe Gelhardt and Tyler Roberts, another forward is needed.

Marcelo Bielsa will never come out and speak on transfers, and neither would he demand them, he is happy to work with the under-23s.

That can be all well and good, but we need senior faces now with quality to help improve this squad with all eyes now on the Premier League.

There is no time for panic yet with three weeks to go, but Victor Orta has to start putting his foot down soon or face the wrath of some angry fans.
