Phil Hay issues update on Angus Kinnear and Victor Orta futures at Leeds United

The San Francisco 49ers will not look to replace Angus Kinnear and Victor Orta at Leeds United, according to Phil Hay.

The Athletic journalist has reported that once the 49ers purchase more shares, Kinnear and Orta won’t be shown the door at Elland Road.

He believes that apart from Marcelo Bielsa, the duo deserves credit for getting Leeds from the Championship to the Premier League.

In his Q&A, he wrote, “If and when the 49ers do acquire more shares, I’m pretty sure they’d want to keep both Kinnear and Orta on board.

“This season hasn’t gone to plan. But over the course of four years with Bielsa, they’re very much in credit I feel.

“If Leeds stay up, the question from here will be how the club regain their old impetus.”

Makes lot of sense

49ers abandoning the Leeds setup after taking over would be counterintuitive.

Firstly, they do not have any experience of managing a Premier League club and second, a side of Leeds’ stature is not easy to look after.

They’ve seen how the value has skyrocketed over the last three to four years and there is scope for it to rise even more in the future.

Kinnear and Orta have both done exemplary jobs at getting the club to this stage and they should be given the tools and license to take it even further.

Andrea Radrizzani is likely to stay on as a minority stakeholder so he will certainly have some kind of influence on the decision making at Elland Road.

Whether or not this tempts Marcelo Bielsa to stay on, remains to be seen.
