Phil Hay has speculated over Leeds United's interest in Club Brugge's Noa Lang

Phil Hay has suggested, “it wouldn’t be a surprise” to see Leeds United reignite their interest in Club Brugge’s Noa Lang this summer.

It was reported by Football Insider [14 May], that Leeds were working on a deal for the 22-year-old Dutchman.

The Whites have been long-time admirers of the winger and Hay believes the departure of Raphinha could see Jesse Marsch go back in for Lang.

Talking on the Phil Hay show on Monday [23 May], he said: “I’m only speculating here, but it wouldn’t surprise me at all if Raphinha left if they went back in for Noa Lang, because they do really like Noa Lang, and they did like him last summer.”

Good Raphinha replacement

Lang has nine goals and 14 assists for Club Brugge this season and at 22, could be an ideal replacement for Raphinha if the Brazilian leaves the club this summer.

It is likely Leeds will have to fight off plenty of other clubs for the Dutchman’s signature but if they did, it would be a statement of intent from the Leeds United hierarchy.

After securing their Premier League survival, it is vital that Leeds don’t find themselves in the same predicament next season.

Retaining Kalvin Phillips’ services and potentially investing their Raphinha windfall smartly could see Leeds continue their progression of recent years.

Lang is the sort of exciting winger that could be a huge hit with the Elland Road faithful.

With the imminent arrival of Brenden Aaronson as Leeds’ first summer signing, the outlook at Elland Road is certainly looking far brighter than this time last week.

The pulling power of being a Premier League club will give Leeds a good platform to build off this summer.

In other Leeds United news, this player is set to undergo a medical “soon” with the Whites.
