Phil Hay has revealed the details of Ian Poveda's loan move away from Leeds United
Phil Hay has revealed that there is no option to buy included in Ian Poveda’s loan move from Leeds United to Blackburn Rovers.
The Athletic reporter revealed on his Twitter account that the Whites haven’t allowed Blackburn to include an option to buy, and they insist that the winger will be back at Elland Road next season.
This is a great chance for Poveda to make an impact in the Championship and impress Marcelo Bielsa from afar.
Is Poveda’s long-term future still at Leeds?
It always seemed possible that the Whites would look to loan Poveda out after he didn’t feature in the first team during pre-season [Football Insider].
However, with him leaving, Leeds are pretty short of wingers unless Crysenico Summerville steps up into the first team, and with Poveda going, that could now happen.
The former Manchester City winger has been given the ideal opportunity to show what he can do week in week out, and we hope this move works out for him.
If he can really rip it up in the Championship and provide a lot of goals and assists, then he could be in a perfect place to feature heavily in the first team next season.
However, if he fails to do that, then we could see Leeds looking to move him on. Ultimately, his future is in his own hands, and he has to take this chance at Ewood Park.
