Phil Hay: Every chance that Leeds United secure the signing of RB Leipzig midfielder Tyler Adams
The Athletic’s Phil Hay believes there is every chance that Leeds United sign Tyler Adams from Bundesliga side RB Leipzig
According to The Yorkshire Evening Post [26 June] the 23-year-old is high up on Victor Orta’s wanted list.
The rumour has been supported by Hay, who believes there’s “enough noise” surrounding Adams for a deal to materialise.
Talking on the latest episode of the Phil Hay Show [44:30 1 July], Hay said: “I think there’s enough interest and enough noise around Tyler Adams.
“There’s enough willingness on RB Leipzig’s part for that one to come off.”
Leeds are really showing their Premier League rivals how to manoeuvre in the transfer market and are clearly planning well ahead for Kalvin Phillips’ imminent exit.
It would be wise for Leeds to invest the Phillips money into two players rather than reinvesting the who sum into one asset.
Phillips will be extremely difficult to replace but Leeds fans should take heart from the way the club hierarchy have worked over recent weeks.
Adams is a young and mobile midfielder with a good amount of experience, who could well be developed by Jesse Marsch at Elland Road.
There is a lot of trust being put into the Leeds boss to help these players kick on whilst they’re at Elland Road.
Once the club adequately replace Raphinha and Phillips, a striker will have to be the next priority in order to find some adequate competition for Patrick Bamford.
Further additions defensively would also not go a miss for Marsch and Victor Orta.
In other Leeds United news, we could be about to receive a last-gasp £60million offer for Raphinha which could hijack Chelsea’s advances.
