Phil Hay drops latest on Leeds United transfer plans, names three players wanted

Phil Hay has shared the latest on Leeds United and their transfer plans for the summer this weekend.

The Athletic journalist has named Brenden Aaronson, Joe Garner and Calvin Ramsay as three to watch moving forward.

They all depend on if Leeds stay in the Premier League, with a move for a new striker also a position mentioned.

Writing in his latest matchday Q&A for The Athletic on Saturday [30 April], Hay shared who could be targeted this summer.

“If Leeds stay up, they’ll try again to sign Brenden Aaronson from Salzburg. There’s a good chance of that happening,” he wrote.

“They want Calvin Ramsay from Aberdeen and James Garner at Man Utd is someone they’ve looked at. I’d also expect them to look for another centre forward.”

Work to do.

There is still work to do in every sense this season.

Leeds and Jesse Marsch need to make sure they remain in the Premier League, or these names will likely mean nothing in the summer.

Aaronson is the one that is most likely to happen should we beat the drop, and Victor Orta may already have that one in place ready to be confirmed.

Then it looks as though full-back, central midfield and the final third will be targeted – all areas that have been heavily affected by injuries this season.

Sorting that squad depth out must be the main goal at Elland Road, with that being our biggest Achilles heel this campaign.

There will be big nerves in these final five games, but we love the confidence from the club to have these plans in place.

Let’s just hope we are in a position to act on them between June and the start of August after this season end.
