Phil Hay believes that Helder Costa could leave Leeds United for Valencia

Phil Hay believes that Helder Costa could leave Leeds United for a move to Valencia, with Dan James set to move to Elland Road.

The Athletic reporter revealed on his Twitter account that the Whites winger could be set for a departure today after a pretty indifferent spell with the Whites.

Leeds signed Costa initially on loan in the summer of 2019 but in his two and a bit seasons at the club, he has failed to perform in many games, and with James arriving, you would expect that his game time would be limited [the Guardian].

Costa to leave?

Certainly, it appears as if the writing is on the wall for the former Wolverhampton Wanderers winger who has not hit the heights that he managed at Molineux.

Costa was a player who Marcelo Bielsa played a lot in his first season, and even last season, he managed 22 league appearances.

However, this year in the Whites’ first three league games, he has appeared for just 21 minutes, and James seems like a massive upgrade on Costa.

So, it will be interesting to see if Valencia do make a move as the 27-year-old’s time at Elland Road hasn’t been great, and it would probably be best for all parties if they cut ties today.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites are set to make an imminent announcement about a major signing.
