Phil Hay: Archie Gray is setting first-team training at Leeds alight
Phil Hay has shared that Leeds United sensation Archie Gray has been setting first-team training alight at Thorp Arch.
The 15-year-old travelled with the matchday squad to Spurs yesterday, a bright spot despite the 2-1 defeat in the capital.
Hay shared that tongues are “wagging” over his displays as he looks to continue the legacy of the Gray family in West Yorkshire.
Writing in his latest piece for The Athletic, Hay shared that Gray has been setting Thorp Arch alight with his performances.
“The freshest face in the travelling party was that of Archie Gray, the super-gened 15-year-old who is grandson to Frank, nephew of Eddie and the latest member of the Gray dynasty, and while the schoolboy is setting tongues wagging by training regularly with the first team at Leeds,” he wrote.
It was such a shock to see someone such as Gray travelling with the first-team squad to Spurs yesterday.
Given that names such as Max Dean were left out despite shining with the under-23s, it’s clear that Gray is the one catching the eye.
Marcelo Bielsa isn’t one to shy away from a player because of their age, and the 15-year-old training with the first team is amazing.
While it was amazing to see, Gray isn’t going to make an impact in the Premier League and it proves that more signings need to be made.
If January passes by with no action, the injuries will take their toll even more and it could end in relegation – that can’t be allowed to happen.
In other Leeds United news, the Whites are ready to make major January signings with unexpected deals to force action
