Paul Merson waxes lyrical over 'Unbelievable' Raphinha after Leeds United v Norwich

Paul Merson was left stunned after what he saw Raphinha do in the 2-1 Leeds United victory over Norwich on Sunday.

The Whites looked like they were heading for another disappointing result when the visitors equalised in stoppage time.

However, Raphinha turned things around with a brilliant piece of play that took two outfielders and the Norwich goalkeeper out of action, only to square it for Joe Gelhardt to net home the winner.

On his Sky Sports column, Merson wrote, “Unbelievable by Raphinha. At that time in the game, with that much pressure on, to do what he did honestly takes some doing.

“He’s gone round the ‘keeper when a lot of people would have just shot. But he just played it in and the lad’s there to tap it in.”

Moments like those are why the Elland Road crowd admire Raphinha to such a great deal.

Losing him would be a bitter blow as he’s already become a fan favourite.

Time and again, he’s been the man to bail the team out when the chips have been down.

Throughout the game, he was a thorn in the Norwich side and he would’ve been proud of his performance on the day.

Hopefully, Jesse Marsch continues to deploy a system that gets the best out of Raphinha as he is, by far, his best player.

If Leeds want to stay in the Premier League, the Brazilian is the man to keep them there.

In other Leeds United news, Steve McManaman claims that a Whites man has already lost the trust of fans after what happened last week.
