Paul Merson has backed Leeds United to beat Arsenal in the Premier League clash at Elland Road on Sunday afternoon.
The Sky Sports pundit slammed the Gunners, claiming they don’t have enough players who can cause problems when running at defences.
Leeds will be looking to avoid their first-ever three loses in-a-row under Marcelo Bielsa in his three years at the club against the Londoners.
Merson believes that the Whites will have too much for Mikel Arteta’s side in West Yorkshire and that they will be overwhelmed.
“I see Leeds beating Arsenal because Arsenal haven’t got them players in their team who go past people,” he said on Sky Sports.
“I think that’s the problem – they go to Man City and they draw because Man City play football and they pass and move.
“For me, I personally think Leeds beat Arsenal because I don’t think Arsenal have the players to cope with Leeds.”
Leeds fans will be delighted with this prediction.
Merson has a decorated history with Arsenal and will know the Gunners more than most from his time at North London in his playing days.
Arsenal are coming into this one with a big problem, with Sead Kolasinac, Mohamed Elneny and Thomas Partey all confirmed absentees.
The Gunners will be missing the running power and defensive strength of the latter two, something which could really see Leeds capitalise with the likes of Mateusz Klich and Rodrigo.
With Kalvin Phillips also returning for this one, Bielsa will be fully confident of causing a so-called “upset” in West Yorkshire on Sunday.
