Paul Merson predicts the scoreline of Leeds United v Manchester City
Paul Merson admits Leeds United have improved under Jesse Marsch but doesn’t think the Whites can trouble the Premier League champions this weekend.
Leeds will take on Manchester City in the Premier League on Saturday at Elland Road where the home side will be looking to maintain their unbeaten run to six games.
The title race between Man City and Liverpool could go down to the wire, and Merson has predicted a comfortable 3-0 win for the visitors.
“Even in their biggest game next week, I couldn’t possibly name a Manchester City eleven! Their squad is so big – it’s ridiculous. I don’t think they’ll have much of a problem with the Real Madrid game,” wrote Merson for SportsKeeda.
“I see nothing but a City win here. Liverpool will probably win their game, so this is another massive match for them. Leeds have been harder to beat since their new manager has come in, but I don’t see how they’ll stop Manchester City.”
Marsch has done a tremendous job at the club since taking over.
He has not only arrested the decline but has managed to inject a sense of belief among the squad.
The Whites have picked up three wins and two draws from their last five games. However, they are not safe yet.
The next three games for Leeds, starting with City, will define their season. The Whites face Arsenal and Chelsea next, and they have to pick up something from these games in order to breathe easily.
Can they pick up a point against City?
Pep Guardiola’s side are like a rampaging river at the moment. They are looking invincible at the moment, but the Whites can frustrate them by being solid at the back.
If Leeds can manage to get something from this game, it will not only boost their survival hopes but at the same time tilt the title in Liverpool’s favour.
