Paul Merson predicts Leeds United v Burnley

Leeds United will take on Burnley in their next Premier League clash on Sunday at Elland Road.

Ahead of the match, Paul Merson has predicted that it will end in a narrow 1-0 win for Marcelo Bielsa’s side.

Both the clubs are going through a poor run of form at the moment, and the Whites will be desperate to return to winning ways.

Leeds are just two places above the relegation zone, but Merson thinks “they should be fine” provided they get their key players back from injuries.

“If Leeds United get all their injured players back and manage to put away their chances in front of goal, they should be fine,” he wrote for SportsKeeda.

“Burnley, on the other hand, are struggling badly and are already in deep trouble, but we’ll have to wait and see what they do against Manchester United later today.

“Leeds are still creating a lot of chances, so I expect them to record a narrow home win in the Premier League.”

Crucial game

Burnley are 18th in the Premier League with just 11 points, while Leeds are only five points ahead of them.

Leeds have picked up just one win in their last eight games in the Premier League, and the Yorkshire club are without a win in their last four games.

They are heading into this match on the back of three defeats in a row, where they conceded as many as 14 goals.

The Boxing-day break (due to the Covid outbreak) may have helped them to regroup and re-strategise their plans, but Bielsa will once again be without several of his key players for this game.

The Whites have been ravaged by injuries all season. In their last game against Arsenal, Bielsa had only nine senior players at his disposal, although the Argentine doesn’t want to use injuries as an excuse for a poor run of form.

Burnley are without a win in their last five games in the Premier League, and this is a perfect game for Leeds to get their season back on track.

In other Leeds United news, Whites chiefs recently jetted out of the UK for talks.
