Paul Merson predicts Leeds United clash v West Ham

Paul Merson has insisted that Leeds United stand “no chance” of being relegated from the Premier League this season.

The popular Sky Sports pundit has still backed West Ham to wipe the floor with Marcelo Bielsa’s men on Sunday, though.

Merson has predicted that it will finish 3-1 to the Irons at the London Stadium, keeping up their good form.

Writing in his Sportskeeda predictions column, Merson shared what he expected to happen at the London Stadium this weekend.

“West Ham are in the top four again and are coming on the back of impressive victories against Leeds United in the FA Cup and Norwich City in the Premier League.

“More than half the season is over now and they’re in the UEFA Champions League spots, so it’s definitely not a fluke or a false position.

“Leeds have no chance of being dragged into a relegation battle because I think they have enough quality to win a handful of games along the way, but I expect West Ham to win this one and cement fourth place.”

No chance.

With Bielsa at the helm and Raphinha flying down the wing, there is no chance of Leeds dropping into the Championship again.

Having said that, we would love Andrea Radrizzani to go out and splash the cash in the remaining weeks of this window to strengthen the squad even further.

The likes of Patrick Bamford and Rodrigo are returning from injury imminently, with Kalvin Phillips back before the end of the season too.

They are all huge boosts for the Whites, who are still missing so much of that quality that Merson was speaking about.

It would surprise no one if Leeds did go to West Ham and win on Sunday, it’s time to go and do just that.

In other Leeds United news, Phil Hay has shared if the Whites are in the ‘advanced’ stages of any January signings
