Paul Merson drops ‘serious’ relegation view ahead of big Premier League weekend for Leeds United

Paul Merson has insisted that Leeds United and Everton will be “desperate” for points in the Premier League starting this weekend.

The Whites take on Leicester in the early kick-off, with the Toffees travelling to Spurs throughout the weekend.

Merson singled out the game between Brentford and Norwich which is set to have “Serious implications” in the Premier League.

Writing in his Sportskeeda column on Thursday (03 March), Merson previewed the week before his predictions.

“Brentford’s trip to Carrow Road could have serious implications with regard to the relegation battle, with Norwich City running out of time to secure their Premier League status,” he said.

“The likes of Everton and Leeds United are also in desperate need of points and currently run the risk of dropping down to the Championship.”

Serious.

Merson is right, we are desperate for points.

As well as that, though, it is getting to the stage of the season where you start to celebrate other teams slipping up.

Burnley have picked up the pace in recent weeks, and seeing them crash against Leicester was a huge sigh of relief.

Having said that, we now need to do our bit, and that means doing what Burnley couldn’t do against the Foxes this weekend.

Brentford are the next team above us who could be dragged into it, and them drawing against Norwich after a potential three points of our own, would push them below us.

It is time to put our foot on the pedal, Jesse Marsch will know that.
