Patrick Vieira admits worry over Michael Olise's fitness prior to Leeds United fixture
Crystal Palace manager Patrick Vieira has revealed his concern about the readiness of midfielder Michael Olise ahead of Monday’s game against Leeds United.
The French U21 international started for the Eagles on Wednesday night against Newcastle but was taken off after 40 minutes in place of Jordan Ayew.
Now Leeds Live (21 April) report the latest the 20-year-olds manager has said regarding his fitness, with the problem expected to relate to a knock picked up whilst representing his country.
“We know that Michael had some issues with his foot in the last couple of weeks,” Viera told the press.
“We started him today, but he wasn’t 100% so the best decision was to take him off.”
Whilst it’s never nice to see a player absent through injury Leeds fans are probably wiping their brow that they won’t have to face Olise on Monday night.
The youngster was actually rumoured to be coming to Elland Road last summer before Palace ultimately secured his signature from Reading, a deal which has reaped rich rewards for the Eagles to this point.
Olise hasn’t fully established himself as a regular starter yet but still has seven-goal involvements in twenty-three league appearances for the Eagles as Vieira looks to slowly bed in his prized talent.
His quick thinking and even quicker feet have dazzled multiple Premier League defences and his absence hopefully makes Leeds’ job a little bit easier come Monday.
Jesse Marsch’s side could do with a result, especially if Burnley pick up points from their games in hand, as this year’s relegation battle looks set to go to the wire.
In other Leeds United news, this former player has spoken out about his role in the clubs Championship winning season.
