Patrick Bamford unlikely to be available for Leeds United clash v Tottenham

Patrick Bamford is unlikely to be available for Leeds United when they take on Tottenham in North London on Sunday, according to The Athletic journalist Phil Hay.

Bamford, 28, has been out with an ankle injury since mid-September and his absence seems set to extend into a seventh Premier League match this weekend despite hope that he’d be available.

Writing on The Athletic website, Hay said: “One of the big question marks during this international break has hung over Patrick Bamford and The Athletic understands that he is unlikely to feature for Leeds against Tottenham on Sunday.”

Robin Koch is also expected to miss out as he continues to recover from surgery on his injured pelvis.

Gutted

A lot of us hoped we’d see Bamford back in action for this game but it doesn’t seem as though that’s going to be the case now.

Leeds have definitely missed the England international, who did so well in the Premier League last season as we finished ninth.

His goals and assists were massive in helping us to a top-half finish and we’ve easily missed that this season.

Raphinha seems to be the only player who can regularly get among the goals and while Rodrigo is getting better in the striker role, he’s simply not as effective in that position as Bamford is.

If he’s not going to be ready to play Spurs then we might have to start looking ahead to future games for his return.

After the trip to Tottenham on Sunday, Leeds play Brighton away on November 27 and then welcome Crystal Palace to Elland Road the following Tuesday.

You’d hope that we’ll see Bamford return in one of those games.

In other Leeds United news, this Whites star was the victim of a “reckless attack” while on international duty.
