Leeds United star Pascal Struijk could be set to return from injury against Cardiff City on Saturday after he posted a social media hint.

The Whites host the Welsh side on 1 February hoping to extend their two-point lead at the top of the Championship standings.

The Elland Road club have been handed a major boost for the contest after Daniel Farke confirmed in his pre-match press conference that the Dutchman is back in team training.

The 25-year-old shared a matchday graphic on his Instagram story, which usually suggests that a player is going to start.

Struijk return a major boost for Leeds United

The former Ajax ace has missed the Whites' last four league matches since he scored a penalty in the 1-1 draw with Blackburn (1 January).

Having arguably the best defender in the division back in the squad is a major boost for Daniel Farke's side as they look to consolidate an automatic promotion spot.

His return is also a boost for Ethan Ampadu, who has been deputising as a makeshift centre-back in Struijk's absence.

Both stars playing in their best positions will only give Farke's side more balance as they look to continue their momentum on Saturday.

The Whites have kept clean sheets in their last three league matches without Struijk but he can also provide a threat in the opposition box.

That is something that the second-tier leaders lacked in the 0-0 draw with Burnley (27 January) and the Dutch ace's presence will give United supporters confidence at both ends of the pitch.
