Owen Hargreaves gushes over Raphinha performance

Owen Hargreaves was impressed with Leeds United ace Raphinha in their 1-0 win over Watford on Saturday.

It was through the Brazilian’s corner that Diego Llorente managed to find the back of the net and hand Leeds their first three points of the season.

His goal would not have been possible had it not been for Raphinha’s deadly delivery into the six-yard area, and Hargreaves was gushing over that passage of play.

In the post-game show for Premier League Productions, the former Manchester United midfielder said, “Brilliant ball that from Raphinha. Llorente got lucky with the ricochet. But it was a fantastic delivery.”

Keeps getting better

Raphinha’s the kind of player who puts in a minimum of 7/10 in every game and this was certainly closer to the 10 point mark than it was to the 7.

He controlled the Leeds attack for the entirety of the first half and despite slowing down a bit in the second he was still at the heart of most things.

His deft touches and intricate passes with players next to him were a joy to behold and we were delighted to catch a glimpse of his fantastic performance.

Leeds and Marcelo Bielsa must be delighted to have someone like the Brazilian among their ranks as he’s a player who seems to get better with each passing game.

The likes of Dan James and Jack Harrison must model their games around Raphinha as there is currently a gulf in class between them.

We’re eager to see how he fares for Brazil in the international break as he certainly has merited his call-up to the national side.
