Sheffield United striker Ollie McBurnie has sent Luke Ayling a three-word message after Leeds United defeated Millwall.

The latter played the entire 90 minutes as the Whites beat the Lions 3-0 in their Championship clash on Sunday (17 September).

Just a day earlier, McBurnie was sent off for the Blades as they lost 2-1 to Tottenham in the Premier League on Saturday (16 September).

Ayling took to social media to share images of the Leeds match against Millwall, with McBurnie commenting on his Instagram post: “Love it skip.”

Superb victory

Ayling was perhaps fearing for his starting role under manager Daniel Farke for the new Championship season.
Young talent Cody Drameh was at the club in the summer before being moved on to Birmingham City on loan, but Djed Spence has arrived on a season-long loan from Tottenham.

The latter has, however, picked up a knock, leaving Farke with Ayling as his only right-back option, with Rasmus Kristensen also out on loan at Roma.

But even with all of these goings on in one single position at Elland Road, Ayling may be Farke’s preferred choice, with the veteran filling the role to superb effect in the early stages of the new season.

Moreover, he has been the club’s leader in recent weeks, donning the captain’s armband in the absence of the injured Liam Cooper.

Attackers Joel Piroe and Georginio Rutter have gained the plaudits from the superb win against Millwall, but Ayling was once again key, helping the Whites to a clean sheet.
