Leeds United ace Archie Gray wows journalist after what he did in ‘toughest spell’ v Millwall

Archie Gray rallied his Leeds United teammates during the side’s toughest spell against Millwall, according to Leeds Live journalist William Jackson.

The 17-year-old played 89 minutes for the Whites as they defeated the Lions 3-0 at The Den on Sunday (17 September).

The young midfielder has played almost every minute of his club’s eight matches in all competitions so far this season.

“Despite his tender age, he could be seen talking to his Whites’ teammates, shouting across the pitch and motioning to rally his teammates during their toughest spell of the game,” Jackson wrote for Leeds Live.

“And, once Leeds had weathered the storm, Gray managed to showcase his ability on the ball and his gritty desire off it.”

Leeds have been crying out for leaders for some time now, with such players really missing at Elland Road last season as the club were relegated from the Premier League.

Leadership and courage were non-existent last time out as the Whites slowly but surely dropped into the second division.

But youngster Gray has really stepped up this season, showing maturity beyond his years under his manager Daniel Farke.

The teenager has formed a superb midfield partnership with Ethan Ampadu, with the pair shining alongside one another in the fantastic victory at The Den on Sunday.

Gray will undoubtedly find his minutes on the pitch decrease in the coming weeks as the fixtures come thick and fast, with summer signings Glen Kamara and Ilia Gruev ready to step in.

But the new duo have a very hard task on their hands in permanently replacing the youngster after his superb start to the new season.
