Ethan Ampadu immediately repays Leeds United faith as superb August Championship statistics emerge
Leeds United lost several midfield men over the summer, with Marc Roca, Weston McKennie, Tyler Adams and Adam Forshaw all moving on.
Their exits left Whites fans wondering where their power and panache would come from in that area in the new Championship season.
The woes continued as the summer transfer window went on, but such fears were quashed with the exciting arrival of Ethan Ampadu.
The versatile Wales international, who can play in both defensive midfield and central defensive, has immediately hit the ground running at Elland Road.
In fact, his top displays have caught the eye so much so that he has been named as the club’s August Player of the Month, as per the official Leeds website (14 September).
Given the figures he has posted for August, it is not surprising at all, with Ampadu registering 473 touches and 346 passes from his 540 minutes played. Moreover, the 23-year-old has won 23 duels, made 20 tackles and chipped in with 11 clearances.
It’s been a superb start to his career at Elland Road, with the player utilising all of his experience despite still being relatively young.
At just 23, the Wales ace has already played in the Premier League, Bundesliga and Serie A, as well as boasting 44 caps for his country.
Whites fans will be desperate for his displays to continue over the coming months, with the player undoubtedly one of the most important players under Daniel Farke.
Speaking to the official Leeds website after the recognition, Ampadu said: “Everyone here, the staff, players and all the fans, have made it really easy for me to settle in, so it’s been an easy and smooth transition and I’ve really enjoyed it.”
In other Leeds United news, a journalist has mooted a “contentious” Whites starting XI dilemma, with one new player not at Elland Road “to be a sub.”
