Ola Aina will not make last-gasp move to Leeds United in January - report
Torino defender Ola Aina will not be joining Leeds United before Monday’s deadline in the January window.
Calciomercato has reported that the Whites have been watching the right-back for weeks as the window exploded.
The Italian outlet has suggested on their website that injuries at the Serie A club have once again opened the door for Aina.
Aina has returned from the African Cup of Nations this week, opening the door for a potential move.
Instead, the Nigerian will be thrown into the action at club-level with Ivan Juric having his options limited.
Leeds have been plagued by injuries, but it looks as though Victor Orta is concentrating in other areas with only four days left to go.
Right-back is an area that could have been done with some strengthening on the short-term given our issues there, but it isn’t a priority.
Luke Ayling is back playing every week, but Cody Drameh has been allowed to leave on loan and Jamie Shackleton is still out injured.
Aina may have wanted first-team football consistently given his issues at Torino, but he may finally get that chance in Italy.
There are other areas such as midfield and the final third that need sorting more importantly, and even they may not be addressed.
Every name under the sun is usually linked with the Whites at this stage of the season, so we take this with a pinch of salt – Aina is one name we won’t be seeing.
