Noel Whelan delivers reaction to Leeds defeat v Tottenham

Noel Whelan has delivered his instant reaction on Twitter after Leeds United suffered yet another defeat in the Premier League.

Despite taking the lead in the first half, the Whites lost 2-1 in the end against Tottenham Hotspur away from home.

Whelan has said that he is “gutted” with the defeat. He also suggested that the two goals Leeds conceded were “dirtiest”.

He wrote: “Gutted. Two of the dirtiest goals to concede but you have to be in the right place at the right time and (be) alert which they were for the two goals.

“Bring on Brighton. We go again. Our fans as always were immense, get home safe.”

Hard to take

It’s really hard to accept such defeats. Leeds were superb in the first half, and they deserved the lead.

In the second half, once Spurs got the equalising goal, they dropped off the pace a bit and lost their composure.

Obviously, we’re missing a host of key players. Despite that, we’re playing really good football, and that is encouraging.

At the same time, the lack of results is hampering the player’s confidence.

To lose a game by playing badly is one thing, to lose in this manner is another. To be fair, Leeds are lacking a bit of quality at the moment, but we expect to get better when all our key players will return.

With games coming thick and fast, we have to get over it quickly. There are a few positives from the match though – Kalvin Phillips was imperious, Jack Harrison returned to form, while Dan James was brilliant as well.
