Leeds United confirmed starting XI v Tottenham Hotspur
Leeds United have confirmed their starting XI and team news for Sunday’s Premier League clash at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Marcelo Bielsa has been forced into a number of changes for the Whites’ trip to North London with Raphinha and Rodrigo the big-name absentees
Luke Ayling, Patrick Bamford and Robin Koch also remain sidelined with injuries.
19-year-old Joe Gelhardt makes his first Premier League start and Mateusz Klich comes back into the starting XI after being rooted to the bench for the past two games.
Rodrigo misses out with a “minor foot injury” while Raphinha is ill.
Leeds confirmed the line-up on their official Twitter account prior to kick-off.
Up against it
Today was always going to be a difficult test for the Whites against a side with Antonio Conte at the helm.
The Italian took charge of Spurs this month after Nuno Espirito Santo’s sacking and is unbeaten after his first two games, a 3-2 win over Vitesse and a 0-0 draw with Everton.
Harry Kane will also be hoping to get back in the goals for Spurs after scoring seven across two games for England during the recent World Cup qualifiers.
Leeds’ task has become even more difficult after the loss of Raphinha and Rodrigo from the starting XI, with the big-name duo not even in the squad.
But their absences leave a big opportunity for some fringe men to step up and prove themselves, with Klich in particular surely desperate to return to his form at the start of last season and stake a claim for a more regular place in Bielsa’s starting XI.
It’s a big chance for Gelhardt to prove to Bielsa that he can handle the pressure of a starting spot in the Premier League.
