No bids tabled for Leeds United target Lewis O’Brien

Leeds United and four other clubs are reportedly keen on signing Huddersfield Town midfielder Lewis O’Brien in January.

According to Yorkshire Live, there have not been any bids tabled for the 23-year-old despite the increasing interest in his services.

Newcastle United, Norwich City, Burnley and Wolverhampton Wanderers are said to be the other clubs who want to sign him.

However, Town’s current financial situation means that they are under no pressure to cash in on him this month.

Worth pursuing?

Leeds pursued the 23-year-old, who has been labelled as “outstanding“, all summer, but to no avail.

Town held firm with their valuation and made it clear that they would not be bullied into letting go of one of their assets.

Since then, the Whites have not signed another central midfielder and it’s no surprise that they are back in with a shout for O’Brien.

There have also been links with John Swift – another Championship midfielder who’s proving to be better than the English second division.

In this window, it’s imperative that Leeds and Victor Orta get their act together and secure the services of a central midfielder.

They have been ravaged by injuries which have led to a number of players playing out of position.

This has affected the balance of Marcelo Bielsa’s side and he would be hoping that the club do some major business this month.

Whether it is O’Brien, Swift or a third midfielder they eventually end up signing, anything is better than nothing and that’s probably what the Argentine must be iterating behind closed doors.

In other Leeds United news, the club are well poised to sign a ‘Magnificent’ centre mid in January with a European club open to his sale
