Leeds United talent Niall Huggins has surprisingly been linked with an Elland Road exit this summer.

Football Insider has reported that the Welsh youth international has been informed that he is free to find a new club.

This comes months after signing a new long-term deal at the club and also making his first-team debut against Arsenal last season.

Graham Smyth has been questioned on the latest regarding the situation, and whether the flying left-back is still at the club.

Writing on his personal Twitter account this week, the Yorkshire Evening Post journalist shared the latest on his situation.

"No, he's still at Leeds," he wrote. "Lots of interest though."

Mistake?

It is hard for us to sit and not think that this could be a big mistake.

A loan exit could do Huggins the world of good, but showing him the exit door permanently could be a massive mistake in the long run.

The Welsh flyer has been sensational for Mark Jackson and the under-23s and appears to have the perfect profile to work under Bielsa.

Huggins can run all day and prefers to attack than defend from left-back, something we have seen work under El Loco.

The only downside we can think of is that Bielsa may not think Huggins is physical enough to prosper in his system.

Junior Firpo arriving doesn't help him, and the fact that Leif Davis could be ahead of him in the pecking order could have opened the exit door automatically.

Bielsa knows best, but there will always be a sense of "what if?" should he eventually leave Elland Road.
