Kiko Casilla to jet out of UK to seal Leeds exit next week
Leeds United goalkeeper Kiko Casilla will jet out of the United Kingdom early next week to seal his loan exit.
The Spaniard has played second fiddle to Illan Meslier since the end of the final Championship season two years ago.
Marcelo Bielsa has always admired the former Real Madrid man, who is yet to return to pre-season training at Thorp Arch.
LUFC FANZONE have shared the major update from his agent on their official Twitter account this week, as the Whites prepare for another reshuffle.
“His agent tells us that the player is currently in Leeds, however is not training with the club,” they wrote.
“He will fly to Spain on Monday or Tuesday to complete the loan deal. His destination is not yet decided however it will be a La Liga side.”
Long time coming.
This is a smart move from Leeds and Bielsa.
Despite El Loco having big respect for the goalkeeper, Casilla is on big wages at Elland Road and it isn’t sustainable for him to be sitting on the bench.
The Spaniard did feature at the end of last season, but it looked as though he was having his own farewell to West Yorkshire, similar to the likes of Pablo Hernandez and Gaetano Berardi.
Casilla’s agent shared the news confidently, with even dates of when he will be leaving the country to go to Spain, meaning this one could get wrapped up soon.
Victor Orta may now be looking for a goalkeeper with a little experience, to help with the progression of both Elia Caprile and Meslier at Thorp Arch.
It isn’t a priority, but it may be a smart move and one that won’t exactly break the bank moving forward at Elland Road.
