Newcastle sensation Jay Turner-Cooke sends message to Leeds United youngster Morten Spencer

Newcastle sensation Jay Turner-Cooke has congratulated Leeds United youngster Morten Spencer after his performance for the Under-21s against Sunderland on Monday.

Leeds managed to win the game 1-0 and Spencer had a good game despite playing in an unfamiliar position.

He was good in the tackle and also won a number of aerial duels to ensure that the Whites ended the game with a clean sheet.

Turner-Cooke, who plays for Sunderland’s rivals Newcastle took to Instagram to write, “Baller”.

They have a situation where most of the players are too good for the junior teams but not yet ready for the senior sides.

Spencer is someone who is playing at his level but others like Darko Gyabi, Willy Gnonto, Sonny Perkins and Joe Gelhardt clearly are a cut above the rest.

If Leeds properly nurture these youngsters and slowly embed them with the senior team, they will have a terrific set of young first-team players in the next five years.

Thorp Arch is a wonderful place for players to learn their trade and they’re showing just how valuable the coaching is there.

Marcelo Bielsa made the most of the academy and was forced to, in some ways, due to the number of first-team injuries sustained by the Leeds players.
