Nahitan Nandez finally responds to links with Leeds United
Cagliari midfielder Nahitan Nandez has finally responded to reports linking him with a move to Leeds United this summer.
The Uruguayan international has become the saga of the window already, with reports even claiming the deal was requested by Marcelo Bielsa.
Local reporters have insisted that Nandez isn’t even on the radar of the Whites and Victor Orta at this moment in time.
Nandez was finally questioned on the matter by Centotrentuno this week and appeared to know nothing about the proposed move.
“I feel good physically, happy for me, for the team,” he said.
“The rumours about Leeds? I heard, but honestly, I don’t know anything yet and I have my head in the Copa and in reaching the goal.”
Nandez may have heard the links, but it is unknown whether they came from his agent and genuine interest, or just from online rumours.
This always happens, everyone remembers the links with Rodrigo De Paul and the Italian media, that lasted for a year, and was still going on until recently.
Uruguay will be hoping to get as far as they can in the COPA America, so any potential move wouldn’t happen for weeks yet.
Nandez would be a great option in midfield, but it would take us smashing our transfer record yet again to complete the deal, and it isn’t that much of a priority.
It appears as though Bielsa would prefer to strengthen his attacking options after the arrival of Junior Firpo, so Nandez may continue hearing these rumours, but he may not hear anything from Leeds.
