Micah Richards singles out Illan Meslier for praise in Leeds loss v West Ham
Micah Richards has singled out Leeds United keeper Illan Meslier for praise after the 2-1 defeat against West Ham on Saturday.
The Frenchman made numerous crucial saves at Elland Road, but couldn’t help his team pick up a point in the end as the pressure told.
Richards was blown away by Meslier but admitted he is always going to concede goals with the number of shots he is forced to face.

Speaking on Match of the Day, Richards singled out the keeper for praise despite the devastating defeat.
“Leeds in this game played so well,” he said.
“Meslier was excellent. They face all these shots, the most in the Premier League and inevitably, you’re going to concede goals playing like that.”

Excellent.
Meslier was superb once again on Saturday, and without him the Whites could have conceded many more goals.
Unfortunately, Richards is right – Leeds are allowing far too many shots on their goal at this moment in time.
Having said that, the injuries ravaging through the squad at this moment are having a massive say on that.
West Ham didn’t dominate until the final third of the game, and that was when the likes of Mateusz Klich and Stuart Dallas looked dead on their feet.
The game opened up as our midfielders tired and with no one to replace them, they saw the fresh legs of West Ham tear them apart.
Leeds will get better, and Meslier will start to pick up clean sheets, but we need to solve this injury crisis sooner rather than later.
