Micah Richards & Roy Keane thrilled by Leeds star Kalvin Phillips for England

Micah Richards and Roy Keane have both been thrilled by Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips this season.

The Yorkshire Pirlo has earned England recognition, shined in the Premier League, and now looks set to feature in the EUROs for his country.

Both Keane and Richards admitted that Gareth Southgate would have no problem throwing him into the deep end against Croatia in the opener on Sunday.

Speaking on their recent show, Road to Wembley, Richards started the love-in for the Yorkshire Pirlo as the England squad was discussed.

“Phillips is a good player as well,” he said. “Lovely footballer.”

Keane responded, and carried on with the praise despite the well-known hatred he has towards the Whites from his playing days.

“Oh, I like Phillips. If something happened to Rice, for Gareth, there’s no problem.”

Stunning.

We can definitely see Phillips starting against Croatia.

Jordan Henderson came on against Romania on Sunday, although he missed a penalty and failed to shine as his fitness looked like it needed some work.

Gareth Southgate likes to play with two holding midfielders, so there is a strong possibility that the Yorkshire Pirlo will join Declan Rice ahead of the defence.

We don’t have the greatest record against Croatia, and that will need to change if we are to get off to a brilliant start in this major tournament.

With that being said, we need to defend well and leave them with no chance through our blistering attacking options, something that Phillips can help by being the anchor in midfield and releasing those around him.

Bring it on.
