Micah Richards: Jack Clarke hasn't kicked a ball since £10m Leeds United exit

Micah Richards has suggested Jack Clarke has been a waste of money since Tottenham signed him for £10million from Leeds United in 2019.

Clarke, 20, burst onto the scene at Elland Road during Marcelo Bielsa’s first season in West Yorkshire before Spurs signed him and loaned him back to the Whites.

The young attacker failed to impress during that loan and has since been shipped out on temporary deals to QPR and Stoke City.

Clarke has made just four senior appearances in all competitions for Spurs and Sky Sports pundit Richards isn’t impressed by how little he’s played for the London outfit.

“Young Jack Clarke, he was outstanding at Leeds,” Richards told BBC Radio 5Live, as quoted by HITC. “£10 million, they paid for him.

“He’s not kicked a ball.”

Our gain, their loss

We don’t take any pleasure in things not working out for Clarke at Tottenham but it’s fair to say the Londoners over-paid for the youngster back in 2019.

Clarke had done well in his games for Leeds before Spurs made that big-money move for him.

However, after he collapsed on the bench at Middlesbrough, there was a notable dip in the youngster’s form.

You knew that something wasn’t quite right when he was loaned back to Leeds and he barely played for Bielsa in the Championship.

Since then, Spurs have tried to get Clarke back into form with loan spells at QPR and Stoke but they haven’t really worked out for the once-promising star.

Clarke, right now, could be a good League One player because he’s not making an impact in the Premier League, hasn’t made one recently in the Championship and cannot buy a game where he is.

For his sake, a loan move to the third-tier might be a good idea in January but Daniel Levy will no doubt be ruing spending so much money on the ex-Leeds ace just over two years ago.
